Gulf Coast Helicopters is now offering ALD (Airborne Leak Detection) services on all NGL and Gas Transmission pipelines. Leak detection has become a very interesting topic and we are able to provide airborne ALD surveys to save companies time and money when compared to traditional survey methods. We can complete your surveys much faster than ground personnel while saving you money. The equipment we utilize is often half the cost of other airborne technologies and the data package that is used to analyze and archive your data is superior to other software. So reduce unaccounted for gas and allow personnel to be more efficient by utilizing our ALD services. Aircraft Used:
The aircraft we utilize for ALD surveys is the Bell 206B helicopter. The Bell 206 is hands down the right tool for the job when it comes to ALD. In order to detect leaks, our pilots must fly both low and slow in order to be as accurate and effective as possible. The turbine powered Bell provides the necessary power and safety to accomplish this type of flight. In addition, our customer personnel can have a comfortable and safe flight when riding along on these surveys as they typically prefer to do.

The LDS equipment we utilize offers many advantages to ALD that many other technologies do not. The system is IR based and detects three elements to determine the presence of a leak and its’ location. The manner in which the software compares the elements improves accuracy and eliminates false positives. The technology is proven, accurate, and easy to manage. Some other key advantages of the LDS equipment are:
Non-Line of Sight – With the LDS; line of sight is not needed. Many laser based technologies must have line of sight in order for the system to detect leaks. The LDS is an IR based sniffer that analyzes the air at highly sensitive concentrations and provides immediate data.
Sub-PPM Detection – The LDS system is capable of sub-ppm concentration detection so we can find the smallest of leaks.
User Friendly Software – The software package that the LDS equipment utilizes allows us to easily interpret the data to provide accurate information and reports to our customers. The database also stores all survey data for record retrieval.
Quick Response – The LDS equipment is installed on our aircraft in a matter of minutes to allow us to be onsite quickly to determine where unaccounted for gas is being released.
